Memory Care

Memory Care is a special form of Assisted Living designed for those who suffer from Alzheimer’s and other dementias.  Memory Care communities provide a secure area to prevent unsafe wandering, while also acting as a loving, warm, and safe environment to provide seniors with activities to stimulate them physically, emotionally, and psychologically.

The following is a list of situations that may indicate Memory Care would be a good fit for your loved ones:

  • Is your loved one getting lost while on a walk or while driving, even in familiar locations?  Is he or she sometimes unable to remember personal information, such as addresses, phone numbers, or personal contacts that would allow a safe return home?
  • Have there been any falls or accidents at home?
  • Have there been incidents with appliances, such as an oven or stove, or forgetting to turn them off?
  • In the unfortunate event of a house fire, would your loved one be able to properly contact emergency personnel and vacate the premises safely?
  • Is your loved one forgetting to manage medications in the correct doses and on the correct schedule?
  • Is your loved one forgetting to eat or properly hydrate?  Is he or she experiencing a changing diet due to not being able to tolerate certain types of foods?
  • Are normal activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing, and eating becoming a challenge?
  • Has your loved one displayed a change in personality, such as becoming aggressive, paranoid, or otherwise fixated on trivial matters?
  • Is the amount of assistance required by you as a caregiver becoming a burden on you or your other family members?  Is this burden causing health risks to you, or is it causing you to underperform on your other responsibilities?

Memory Care communities are specially designed to counteract the difficult and dangerous situations in the list to the left.  The Willow Creek Memory Care community has been carefully organized to provide the environment that maximizes the quality of life for those suffering with any form of dementia.  Please contact us today, so we may answer any other questions you have and help you find the fit that is right for you.
